Tips for weight training

I saw this link on MSN and thought it was worth sharing. The article highlights the importance of including weight training in our workout routine: increased metabolism (calorie burning), stronger bones, injury prevention and muscle loss prevention. You can tell if you are building muscle by the way that you look and feel, but more specifically by having your body composition measured. At the Life Center for Health Aging, we use the DEXA machine to measure both bone density and body composition. From this test we can determine your percent body fat and your percent muscle mass. It is the gold standard for body composition measurement. As a patient of Dr. Life, you are welcome to have this test done periodically throughout your program to monitor your progress.
