There’s still time to enjoy some grilling—which is one thing my sisters and I love to do whenever we’re together. Here is a quick, delicious and really nutritious meal from my sisters, Mary and Shawn.
Ingredients:
- 6 fresh ahi tuna steaks (at least 1 inch thick)
Marinade:
- ¼ cup extra virgin, cold pressed olive oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons hot chili oil
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy or tamari sauce
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger root
- 3 tablespoons white vinegar
- 3 tablespoons Splenda®
- 1 tablespoon white and/or black sesame seeds
- 3 green onions, very thinly sliced
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients of the marinade together in a vacuum seal dish or ziplock bag. A shallow baking dish with tight-fitting lid will also work.
Place tuna steaks in marinade and refrigerate for no more than 2 hours, turning once.
Heat grill to medium-high and place steaks directly on grill. Grill for 2 minutes then rotate 90° to create “grill hash marks” and continue grilling for 1-2 minutes. Flip and repeat on the other side to desired doneness.
