For men only: Testosterone Therapy Methods

Man's face

1.      Transdermal - gels or creams. I'm not a fan of this approach. It's sloppy at best since its absorption can be affected by weather conditions and it can be transferred to your wife and kids. Plus, you need to apply it daily.

2.     Pellets - surgically implanted into your muscles. The testosterone slowly leaks into your system as it dissolves over a period of weeks. Problems arise if it becomes too high; you'll need a pellet taken out. Low levels mean another pellet inserted. Wounds at pellet site can become infected.

3.     Human chorionic gonadotropin injection - works great for younger men with viable, healthy testicles. It acts like LH and stimulates testicles to make more testosterone. Not good for 50+ crowd.

4.     Weekly intramuscular injections - testosterone cypionate in buttocks or thigh. My preferred method. Keeps your levels in a steady state.
